Tenure-track Faculty Position in Architecture - Advanced architectural design and construction

Job Description

The successful candidate demonstrates a high-level expertise in fields related to architectural design and advanced construction throughout his or her training and activities. All profiles related to construction and building sciences will be considered, especially those related to the production of building elements using digital tools and robotics or laboratory experiments at large scale (1:1). The candidate’s achievements in teaching, research and design must reflects tangible outcomes of his or her expertise. The successful candidate will teach in project courses and workshops, supervise final-year projects, conduct research or research-creation activities, and contribute to the updating of programs. He or she actively participates in the life of the school, its operations, and its exposure. It is important to mention that all the project workshops are held in person.

TASKS:

  • Teach and supervise students at all three academic levels, within and adjacent to their field of expertise,
  • Perform research or research-creation activities, and publish in the field of expertise,
  • Participate in pedagogical and administrative activities of the School of architecture and the University,
  • Participate in external activities that showcase the School of architecture and the Université, and contribute to the development of partnerships with the scientific, industrial or professional communities.

  • Ph.D. degree obtained or in progress (exceptionally, a Canadian candidate with the equivalent of a Ph.D. may be considered);
  • Fluency in French or a commitment to quickly reach the level required by the position;
  • Member of the professional association of architects in their place of residence (an asset);
  • Working experience on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Relevant university teaching experience, specifically in architectural pedagogy (teaching workshops), within and adjacent to the field of expertise;
  • Achievements in research or research-creation achievements.
  • Ability to obtain research or research-creation funding.
