Tenure-track Faculty Position in Anthropology of Infrastructures

The Department invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time teaching and research position in the anthropology of infrastructures.
Job Description
An assistant professor position to teach and carry out research in anthropology, with a specialization on issues related to the development or redevelopment of major infrastructures. These could include transport networks (maritime, air, rail, etc.), global production chains, digital infrastructure, cities, developments related to energy transition, natural resource extraction or other relevant topics. The position focuses on the ethnographic study of connectivity, materiality and subjectivities related to these infrastructures.
- Teaching a variety of core and optional undergraduate and graduate courses offered by the Department;
- Supervising graduate students (MA and PhD levels);
- Developing a distinctive research programme with publishing in peer-reviewed journals;
- Performing administrative and academic duties for the Department, the Faculty and the University.
- Have completed a PhD in anthropology or a degree deemed equivalent by the Search Committee; applicants with confirmed defence dates may also apply.
- The capacity to supervise both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Applications from aboriginal persons will be received favourably.
More specifically, applicants must have:
a. conducted significant anthropological fieldwork;
b. a track record of scholarly publications;
c. teaching experience.
Conditions
Salary established by the current collective agreement for the rank of assistant professor.
