Tenure-track Faculty Position in Pesticides and Emerging Contaminants

Job Description
Université Laval is seeking a faculty member whose work focuses on pesticides, emerging contaminants and their impacts on soils, the environment and agri-food systems. The successful candidate will develop an original research program and contribute to teaching at all three academic levels, within a department recognized for its expertise in soil science and agri-food engineering.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and teach courses on pesticides, emerging contaminants and their impacts (fate, transformation, transport, ecotoxicological effects) at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Develop an original research program addressing the behaviour of pesticides and emerging contaminants in soils and agroecosystems, their biotic and abiotic interactions, their transport to surface and ground waters, their environmental and health impacts, and innovative riskmanagement and reduction strategies.
- Contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices that reduce pesticide use and contaminant dispersion.
- Supervise and co-supervise graduate students, and contribute to undergraduate mentoring.
- Promote research in the field and take part in university life.
Targeted teaching
- SLS-3302 Pesticides and Environment (in person, undergraduate — agronomy).
- SLS-1300 Soil Chemistry (in person with laboratory, undergraduate — agronomy).
- SLS-2000 Rational Management of Pest Control Products (distance learning — certificate in horticulture and green spaces).
- Development of a graduate-level course related to the discipline.
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in a relevant field: soil science, environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, agronomy or a related discipline.
- Undergraduate degree in agronomic sciences, natural sciences or engineering.
- Membership in the Ordre des agronomes du Québec (agr.), or eligibility to become a member within the first year of appointment.
- Proficiency in French (spoken and written), or commitment to reaching this level within a maximum of three years (collective agreement, Appendix B).
- A publication record in peer-reviewed journals in the field.
- Postdoctoral training or significant academic and/or industrial research experience is an asset.
