Job Description

The School of Actuarial Science is inviting applications for a regular tenure-track or tenured position in the field of actuarial science.

Candidates must have acquired solid skills in a field related to actuarial sciences. The selected candidate will need to develop a funded research program, supervise the research work of students at all three levels, primarily at the master's and doctoral levels, provide high-quality teaching at all three levels, and contribute to the evolution of the training programs.

Requirements:

  • Have or be about to obtain, by the date of appointment, a PhD in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, quantitative finance, data science, or any other related field.
  • Express oneself adequately in writing and orally in French, or commit to doing so within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Have the ability to teach and develop an independent research program in actuarial science.
Selection criterias
  • Relevance of university education and experience in relation to the identified field, and commitment to pursuing activities in actuarial sciences.
  • Ability in university teaching and in mentoring students across all three academic cycles.
  • Demonstrated research skills and the potential to develop a productive, independent, and original research program.
  • Interest and ability to work in a team. 
  • Willingness to contribute to internal activities.
  • Alignment of the profile with key competencies for the teaching role: autonomy, creativity and innovation, interpersonal skills, open-mindedness and flexibility, planning and results orientation.
  • An Associate or Fellow title from a North American actuarial association is an asset.
