The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a full-time tenure-track professorship. The successful candidate will conduct high-impact research in electronics to solve complex challenges in wireless or optical communications technologies, signal processing, and/or receiver/transmitter devices, as well as the hybrid integration of these technologies. Expertise in high-frequency electronics is an asset. The candidate will be expected to conduct research and publish non-exclusively in the following areas:
- High-frequency electronics;
- Power electronics;
- Microelectronics..
Duties attached to this position are as follows :
- Teaching and mentoring students at all three university cycles;
- Doing research and publication in areas related to the position;
- Participating in educational and administrative activities of the unit and faculty;
- Participating in external activities of academic nature contributing to the influence of the faculty and the university.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a relevant discipline related to the research area of the position, or be close to completing a Ph.D. (thesis submitted) ;
- Demonstrate relevance of academic background and experience to the identified field ;
- Show proven ability to conduct university-level research ;
- Exhibit potential to develop independent and original research activities in the specified area ;
- Demonstrate abilities or potential for university-level teaching across all levels, supervising graduate students, and a commitment to pedagogical innovation ;
- Show evidence or commitment to community service ;
- Possess communication skills and the ability to integrate into the French-speaking context of the institution, or commit to being able to do so within 1 year;
- Align professional potential with the key competencies required for a professorial role:
- Analytical skills, synthesis, and judgment,
- Creativity and innovation,
- Communication skills,
- Interpersonal skills and openness,
- Teamwork and collaboration with partners,
- Autonomy and sense of responsibility,
- Ethics and responsibility,
- Supervisory skills.
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec or eligible to become one within a reasonable timeframe.
Conditions
Salary according to the current collective agreement.
While establishing your research program, you will be supported in securing funding from government agencies and industry. You will also receive guidance in recruiting and supervising master’s and doctoral students.
Teaching activities at both undergraduate and graduate levels are conducted in French. Université Laval provides non-Francophone candidates with opportunities to learn and improve their French language skills during the first three years of employment.
Childcare services are available on campus, and faculty members are entitled to parental leave.
